Thank you for your question. It's good to do it at least the first time you receive it. There are a lot of factors that go into the life of a cedar outdoor table which makes the answer a tough one. When you stain a table or even when you seal it only, the color of the red cedar is enhanced and some really like that color. If that is what you like, then you'll want to stain and/or seal your piece every couple of years. But honestly, that is a personal preference.
