I've just ordered this bench. Do you recommend a light sanding prior to applying a semi-transparent oil stain?

I've read where sanding with 80 grit sandpaper is needed to remove mill glaze from new outdoor wooden furniture.

The wood on this product has been planed by the manufacturer and stain can be applies without sanding but the finish will be better if you do some light sanding. I would not recommend any grit lower than 220 for final touch up sanding.
